Our autumn getaway to Boutique Hotel Alpenhof in Sankt Martin am Tennengebirge exceeded all expectations! The new proprietors, Auke and Chantal, welcomed us with wonderful hospitality. After our mountain hikes, finding complimentary mulled wine and pastries waiting was such a thoughtful touch.
Our family room was spotless and comfortable, with a balcony showcasing the Tennengebirge peaks in stunning autumn colors. Perfect for resting after days on the trails.
Evenings on the terrace were magical, sampling local wines while watching sunsets paint the larch forests gold. The location is ideal for accessing spectacular hiking trails.
Auke and Chantal are doing a wonderful job. For anyone seeking Austrian hospitality, comfort, great hiking, and breathtaking autumn alpine scenery, this is the place!

From the summit of Ostermaisspitze, you can actually spot the hotel below, a rewarding sight after reaching the Gipfelkreuz!
The trail variety is fantastic. I explored everything from challenging mountain routes to the enchanting “Gnome Forest” on the same mountain towards Zacherleiten. Having these trails on the hotel’s doorstep meant maximum time outdoors.
The hotel’s sauna was absolute heaven for tired muscles after long hikes. Combined with comfortable rooms and a cozy terrace to swap stories with fellow hikers, it was ideal.
Waking up to spectacular mountain views each morning was incredibly motivating. For anyone serious about hiking in the Austrian Alps, this is your perfect basecamp.
